A family-owned hardware store in El Progreso, Yoro — one of Honduras' busiest trade corridors — had no web presence. Their competitors didn't either. The brief wasn't a website. It was a statement: Ferretería El Baratillo carries everything, knows what they're talking about, and delivers to your door. The visual identity had to do that work at a glance, in a market where most hardware retail still runs on word of mouth.
We built a cinematic single-page experience in Next.js with Framer Motion driving every interaction. The hero section plays a full-bleed video background with a custom day/night toggle — a radial clip-path transition triggered from a physical-feeling knob that switches between day and night footage. Clicking the knob spawns a gold flare at the cursor position as the reveal sweeps across the entire screen.
The product section uses a bento grid of hover-activated video cards: each card shows a still frame at rest and plays its video on hover, sliding an enquiry button up from the card footer. A dedicated TOLSEN brand section showcases the store's flagship tool range with a cursor-tracked spotlight on a 22vw watermark that follows the mouse across the section.
The Why Us section is scroll-jacked: four full-viewport horizontal panels driven by vertical scroll progress, each backed by a full-bleed photograph with content anchored at the bottom. The Contact section and footer carry the same cursor spotlight effect on their ghost watermarks, giving the whole page one consistent interactive language.
Every section is built from a single design token set: near-black backgrounds, #F5C400 gold as the sole accent, and Framer Motion entrance animations with staggered children throughout.
A landing page that stands apart from every hardware store in the region — and most outside it. The interactive day/night toggle became the first thing visitors showed each other. Six animated sections, two video backgrounds, zero templates. Delivered in under three weeks from brief to live URL.
Day/Night Video Toggle
A physical-feeling knob triggers a radial clip-path reveal across the full screen, switching between day and night video backgrounds. A gold flare spawns at the click point on every transition.
Video Bento Grid
Five product category cards in a responsive bento layout. Each card plays its video on hover and reveals an enquire button that slides up from the card footer.
Scroll-Jacked Carousel
The Why Us section pins to the viewport and drives four full-viewport horizontal panels from vertical scroll progress, with a live gold progress bar tracking position.
Cursor Spotlight Watermarks
Three ghost watermark texts — TOLSEN, CONTACT, BARATILLO — respond to cursor position with a masked radial reveal, exposing a gold gradient and drop-shadow glow beneath.
TOLSEN Brand Section
A dedicated section for the store's flagship pro-grade tool range — two-tone wordmark, animated stat columns, catalogue rows with hover transitions, and a spotlight watermark.
